Everton Swimming Association Coaching Team

 Dear Parents and Swimmers

We have made some changes to our coaching team within the club and feel that this is the right way to continue the development of

all our swimmers. It was important after Tony our Head Coach stepped down that we took stock of the situation and didn’t make any

quick decisions. We have considered various options over the past months to arrive at a point which we feel will provide a solution

 that will work for everyone.

There are currently no plans to make any changes to the swimming sessions and times  so your training will be run by:

Group / Squad Primary Coaches

Inter A : Tony Sharp

B Squad : Phil Dowd

Group 4 : Mark Riley

Group 3 : Sean O Rourke

Group 2 : Molly Harris

Group 1 : Emily Sharp

LTS : Sharron Dixon

Lead Coach for All Groups : Neil White

My role will be to oversee the development of all the Groups and Squads from LTS upto Inter A in conjunction with the

Group Leads. I will also be looking to introduce more information to the parents about the Club and what are the aims

and expectations as your child moves forward. I hope you all enjoyed your summer break and are ready to get back to

competitive swimming.

Summer Closure 2018

We are approaching our summer closure which takes place during July each year. The reason swimming stops is to allow all our coaches and families to take their summer holidays with their own families and take a well earned break.  To help you plan for this we have been sending out updates on our Facebook Member's page, but for those who choose not to use Facebook I have shown all venues and relevant dates below:

Venue                                                           Last training  date                                      Training restarts on

Knowsley Sports Centre                             Sunday 29 July                                               Tuesday 21 August

St Edwards College                                    Thursday 26 July                                            Monday 3 September

Wavertree Sports Centre                            Friday  27 July                                                Friday 31 August

If there are any changes to these dates we will inform you or your Coach will contact you directly. I have also been asked about paying your monthly Fees during August.   Yes they still need to be paid historically parents asked us to spread our monthly fees over 12 months rather than adopting a 10 month payment plan. This also enables your monthly standing order arrangements to continue without needing to be temporarily stopped.

We hope you all take this time to relax and enjoy yourselves over the next 4 weeks. But remember your coaches are already planning for your return to training given some swimmers will be taking part in our Team Galas which start at the beginning of September.

Lancashire County Championships 2018

We had 3 long weekends at Liverpool & Manchester.

The Lancashire competition is recognised as one of the toughest in the country so, for any of our swimmers to compete is a fantastic achievement.

We had swimmers compete for the first time and also make finals for the first time.

We achieved the following:

SWIMS

MEDALS

73 Swims

44 PB’s
27 Swimmers in the Top 8 of Events

Gold     x 2
Silver   x 4
Bronze x 2

Thanks to Phil, Cathy & Ste Boardman and Hannah for helping me (Neil White) on poolside.

To the swimmers who competed, well done as some of you really stepped up and delivered some massive swims.

"Congratulations to Hannah Thomas who has been successful in applying for:

2016/17 Young Coach National Talent Camp

The National Talent Camp is a four day residential developed and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust in partnership with Loughborough University, and funded by Sport England. The camp offers the opportunity for 350 young athletes, coaches and officials to come together as part of a unique experience.

The National Talent Camp will be followed by a 12-month development programme delivered by the ASA specifically for ASA successful candidates.

Hannah follows in the footsteps of Emily Sharp who was successful in gaining a place on the same programme for 2015/16."
